This Privacy Policy explains how Promptvexity ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service"). It also describes your rights and how to exercise them.

By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, there are additional rights described at the end of this policy.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

Account registration: email address, username, and password (hashed; we never see it in plaintext).
Profile fields (optional): display name, bio, avatar, headline, location, and website URL.
Content you submit: prompts, problems, votes, reviews, and any other material you post.
Support communications: messages you send to our support email.

1.2 Information we collect automatically

Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps — collected by our hosting provider (Vercel) as part of normal server operation.
Analytics (consent-gated): if you accept the cookie banner, Google Analytics collects aggregate usage data (pages viewed, session duration, general region). Analytics are not activated if you decline.

1.3 Information from third parties

If you sign up using a third-party OAuth provider (e.g. GitHub, Google), we receive your email address and public profile information from that provider, subject to the permissions you grant.

2. How we use your information

To create and maintain your account.
To display your content and profile to other users.
To score prompts using automated AI evaluation (prompt text only — no personal data is sent to the evaluation service).
To send transactional emails (e.g. email verification, password reset, billing receipts).
To enforce our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
To analyze aggregate usage and improve the Service (analytics, only with consent).
To respond to support requests.

We do not use your data to run advertising, build advertising profiles, or train our own machine learning models.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these limited cases:

Service providers: infrastructure and tooling vendors that process data on our behalf (database hosting, web hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing). See our Subprocessors page for the full list.
Legal compliance: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Promptvexity or others.
Business transfer: if Promptvexity is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With your consent: for any other sharing not described here.

4. Public content

Content you post (prompts, problems, reviews, your username, and public profile fields) is visible to everyone and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post anything you want kept private in these fields.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we remove your profile and content from public display within 7 days. Database backups may retain data for up to 30 additional days for disaster recovery purposes, after which it is permanently purged.

We may retain certain data for longer if required by law or for legitimate security purposes (e.g. audit logs related to moderation actions).

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS in transit, hashed passwords, row-level security on our database, and role-based access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Deletion: ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Restriction or objection: ask us to limit or stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
Withdraw consent: revoke any consent you have given (e.g. analytics cookies) at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@promptvexity.com. We will respond within 30 days. In most cases you can manage your own data directly in your account settings (profile edits, content deletion, account deletion).

9. EEA, UK, and California residents

Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR)

We process your data on the following legal bases: contract performance (operating your account and delivering the Service you signed up for); legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the Service); consent (analytics cookies); and legal obligation (audit logs, responding to lawful requests).

Data transfers

Promptvexity is based in the United States. By using the Service, data may be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries. Where we transfer data from the EEA or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email privacy@promptvexity.com.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If the changes are material, we will notify you by email and post a notice on the Service at least 7 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
